Weekly Report (July 22nd)


Hi.

Ah... I haven't booted Unity editor at all in the entire previous week. I was working on the texts for the latest combat encounter outcome, and it took more time and effort than I'd imagined. Even though I had preliminary texts in place, I rewrote most of them since I wasn't satisfied with the quality of writing. Honestly, the further I go, the less content I am with my texts. It's as if I had been losing inspiration the closer I got to the end of the demo. They feel too formulaic. The bright side is that now those bits are a touch better.

What I've done in the list form is as follows:

- Revised texts for the latest combat outcome in the demo - the escape route, the defeated route, and the victory route;

- Translated the above texts into Russian - one of the reasons why I achieved so little in the past seven days;

- Prepared slightly better sprites for the protagonist characters - they would be better still if an actual artist made them, and not an AI algorithm which is very unresponsive to my demands. As such, I would love them to have a similar outfit of the same colour, but I can't just ask the algorithm 'please change the body type while keeping an identical outfit', unfortunately;

This week I'll start implementing the texts. Hopefully, by the next report I'll have them fully in the build, as well as complete the changes I outlined the previous week for the code. I want to change the way the game deals with assigned language strings and change how I export in-game strings into a consolidated file, which I could then modify and import with the changes made.
